The Salento area is a long and narrow peninsula extending between the Adriatic and the Ionian seas.

On the Adriatic side, between Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca, the coasts are generally steep, dotted with numerous sea caves and small maritime ports.

At Leuca going towards Gallipoli, therefore on the Ionian side, the coast is gradually falling, giving way to long fine sandy beaches.

The Masseria Gianferrante is located within 3,5 km of the fine sandy beaches on the Ugento shore, (Ionian side) characterised by a crystal clear sea and very shallow floor.
