Garden
Enclosed within ancient stone walls, the garden of Masseria
Gianferrante is an oasis of peace where it's possible
to enjoy total relaxation beneath the shade of palm trees,
the holly oak or carob tree.
The garden is divided into various sections each connected
to one another.
In the central part of the garden are typical plants as the
holly oak (also represented in the coat of arms of the city
of Lecce), the mastic, the myrtle, the strawberry tree
and plants native of the Orient: palm trees. The palm trees,
also referred to as "the trees of life" because
of their beauty, are located in various parts of the garden,
and one can sense how the local history of this place is intertwined
with that of the Orient.
The beautiful flowering of the bougainvillea, of the lantana,
the trumpet wine and fragrant jasmine are part of the landscape.
When the right time of the year comes around, oranges, grapefruits,
tangerines and lemons can be picked from the fruit orchards
which surround the rural houses.
